My annual routine for the Oscar. Though i've been busy lately, haven't updated the blog for a looong time, but i don't wanna miss this. With the convenient of the internet access, for the first time, i manage to catch most of the films before i did my predictions. I've watched 7 outta 10 movies from the list i predicted, and i have the other 2 that haven't watched. Well, again, i've said this every single time, the game is all about who will win, instead of who should. So, here it is,
Performance by an actor in a leading role:
Jeff Bridges, "True Grit"
Robert Duvall, "Get Low"
Jesse Eisenberg, "The Social Network"
Colin Firth, "The King's Speech"
James Franco, "127 Hours"
This year's race is the weakest in years, and there are 2 candidates were last year's nominees.
The leading gentlemen
Performance by an actor in a supporting role:
Christian Bale, "The Fighter"
Matt Damon, "True Grit"
Andrew Garfield, "The Social Network"
Mark Ruffalo, "The Kids Are All Right"
Geoffrey Rush, "The King's Speech"
All seems likely except Damon, i pick him again because i don't really like Jeremy Renner from the Town.
Performance by an actress in a leading role:
Annette Bening, "The Kids Are All Right"
Nicole Kidman, "Rabbit Hole"
Jennifer Lawrence, "Winter's Bone"
Natalie Portman, "Black Swan"
Julianne Moore, "The Kids Are All Right"
Ironically, the actress race is the strongest in years, only Portman and Bening are locked, Moore is at the vulnerable 5th spot, competing against Swank, Williams, Rapace, and even Steinfeld who is currently having confusion on category fraud.
The leading leadies
Performance by an actress in a supporting role:
Amy Adams, "The Fighter"
Helena Bonham Carter, "The King's Speech"
Mila Kunis, "Black Swan"
Melissa Leo, "The Fighter"
Hailee Steinfeld, "True Grit"
... again, it's my least concern category.
Best animated feature film:
"Toy Story 3"
"How to Train Your Dragon"
"The Illusionist"
Achievement in directing:
Darren Aronofsky, "Black Swan"
David Fincher, "The Social Network"
Tom Hooper, "The King's Speech"
Christopher Nolan, "Inception"
David O. Russell, "The Fighter"
For this category, i'm really too amateur to comment, but Aronofsky is kinna cute.
Best picture:
“127 Hours”
“Black Swan”
“The Fighter”
“Inception”
“The Kids Are All Right”
“The King's Speech”
“The Social Network”
“The Town”
“Toy Story 3”
“True Grit”
I still think 10 films are a bit too much to be nominated, not being judgmental, but it's uneasy to see some over-rated movie to squeeze in, this year's case, the Town.
The top-ten
Writing, Adapted Screenplay:
Michael Arndt, "Toy Story 3"
Simon Beaufoy, Danny Boyle, "127 Hours"
Joel and Ethan Coen, "True Grit"
Debra Granik, Anne Rosselini, "Winter's Bone"
Aaron Sorkin, "The Social Network"
Writing, Original Screenplay:
Lisa Cholodenko, Stuart Blumberg, "The Kid Are All Right"
Mark Heyman, Andres Heinz, John J. McLaughlin, "Black Swan"
Christopher Nolan, "Inception"
David Seidler, "The King's Speech"
Scott Silver, Paul Tamasy, Eric Johnson, "The Fighter"
See you again in the prediction for the winners.
