siem reap trip1

When the New 7 Wonders was announced last year at this time, many people, especially asian were so disappointed that Angkor Wat wasn't choosen. Some experts said Angkor Wat is way more deserved the title than some other candidate. Even though it didn't make it to the final New 7 Wonders of the world, Angkor Wat is still one of the most famous historical heritage site to many people. To me, how i wish it is, then at least i've been to one.
Just came back from Siem Reap, the small town in Cambodia where the legendary Angkor Wat is located. It wasn't a fun trip, you can never enjoy visiting Siem Reap, it's more like an experience than a vacation. Basically, Angkor Wat is what Siem Reap all about, unfortunately, we spent only about a few hours there, then what else can you do in Siem Reap? We did a bit more of side seeing, went to a few more tourist place, an almost-fail-miserably food experience, and a lot f shopping and camera-whoring. Who would expect Siem Reap is a shopping paradise, we didn't expect neither, but we shopped a lot.
I wouldn't say Siem Reap is a place must go, especially to those who see rocks are all the same, but if you've been amazed with all the stories about the beauty of Angkor Wat, it's worth going, it's three thousand two hundred sixty four time more astonishing than A Farmosa.

Photos taken on the 1st day.

The Golden Temple guesthouse, highly recommended.

Tonle Sap lake, the fishing village.
People live in poor living condition.

Tonle Sap lake
We ran into a scene where people were queuing up for food exchange coupon.

We accidentally found out that crocodiles are being raised under the wooden floor from the picture above.

Things we did the most, shop.

Probably the best meal we had from our miserably food experience in Siem Reap. Name of the food, unknown.

Things to do at night, drink.
